"I wish Stuart all the best with his British Isles Challenge journey and fundraising efforts. It may not be an expedition to the ends of the earth, but the venture brings its own very real challenges, and will certainly test him to the limits. I would urge anyone to support the trip as much as possible"

Sir Ranulph reaches Everest summit

At 1am yesterday, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, nominal patron of the British Isles Challenge, reached the summit of Mount Everest. And today he is back at basecamp (Alan Hinkes once said something about not having climbed a mountain until you reach the bottom).

Sir Ranulph has raised a fantastic amount of money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, his JustGiving page is heading towards £3,000,000!

Climbing Everest is obviously a fantastic achievement, and to do so as the oldest Briton ever shows he is clearly not slowing down! Yesterday was my birthday - if I have achieved anything like what Sir Ranulph has in 41 years' time I will be a very happy man.
